Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society coming out of Code Red, grateful for community

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Good news for the Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society, as they are now out of a Code Red, and that’s thanks to the community.

In four days, 82 animals found their forever homes through adoption, while the Rescue and Transport Program moved an additional 156 animals to areas where they can find their own families.

In the video above, you can see pictures of just some of the families that adopted fur-ever friends during that period.

But the shelter says the work is just beginning as the return of the Adopt-a-thon is coming up.

“There are several open dog kennels, which is such a blessing, especially here… you know, are we at the end of summer? Yes, but we’re still kind of in animal welfare in the middle of summer, right? So that’s a blessing for sure. However, with cats, it’s honestly more full than it was through the Code Red. So we’re not in a Code Red anymore, but I can’t stress enough the importance of adoptions,” shelter operations manager Brandon Taylor says.

If you aren’t able to adopt, don’t worry… the Humane Society is looking for other items like paper towels and copy paper that they run through frequently.

You can check their Facebook page here for some of the items they’re looking for.
