Montgomery County man allegedly pulls woman off trail, attempts to rape her

MT. STERLING, Ky. – A Montgomery County man is in police custody after allegedly kidnapping, attempting to rape, and robbing a woman who was walking on a trail.
The Mt. Sterling Police Department says it was dispatched to Adena Trail for an attempted sexual assault on Monday evening.
The female victim told police she did not know her alleged attacker.
Police say the suspect was able to take the victim off the trail and attempted to rape her. The suspect stole the victim’s phone.
MSPD says officers located the suspect, Dakota B. Miles, 28, of Mt. Sterling, shortly after arriving at the scene.
Officers obtained surveillance footage from city cameras on the trail and surrounding businesses. After viewing the footage, the victim said Miles is the man who attacked her.
Miles was arrested and is charged with kidnapping (adult), robbery, 1st degree, and rape, 1st degree (attempted).
Miles is lodged at the Montgomery County Regional Jail.
MSPD says more charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. She has since been released.
