Corporation for Public Broadcasting to shut down

(CNN) – After over six decades, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting will be shutting down operations.

The announcement comes less than two weeks after President Donald Trump signed a bill that will cut $1.1 billion for CPB.

Officials say they will help local stations come up with plans to deal with small budgets, but they say some may not be able to stay afloat.

Funds for the corporation will end Sept. 30, which is when most staff members are expected to be let go.

The Trump administration has long vowed to cut funds to CPB, which the president claims is biased against the conservative point of view.
