Edmonton man charged with rape

EDMONTON, Ky. – An Edmonton man is charged with rape involving a minor.

According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police was contacted July 31 regarding a rape investigation.

Troopers say a teen had stated to a medical professional that she had recently been raped by a 20-year-old man, later identified as Tristen Proffitt of Edmonton.

Authorities say the teen stated Proffitt forced sexual intercourse with her and stated that if she told anyone, she “would be in trouble.”

During an interview at the Edmonton Police Department, authorities say Proffitt admitted to having sexual intercourse with the minor, stating she had approached him.

Proffitt was arrested on a charge of first-degree rape.

He remains at the Barren County Detention Center.
