BG East prepares to represent District 1 at the state tournament
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The BG East (12U) All Stars are gearing up for state after winning the district tournament last week.
It was this group’s first time claiming the title after defeating longtime opponent Daviess County earlier in the tournament.
But after the celebrations, the team is back to the grind at Kereiakes Park, as both the players and the staff are determined to uphold the winning culture of the BG east 11-12-year-olds.
“ It’s a little bit of uncharted waters, but the good thing is the rich tradition here at BG East,” assistant coach Kyle Roby said. “There’s a lot of guys that have been there and done that, that we can lean on for advice, and guys that have made it to Williamsport and state, and last year’s team that made it to the region. So, we’ve got a lot of good guys that have given us some good advice and helped us through this process.”
For 12-year-old little leaguers, this season is what they look forward to the most growing up on the diamond.
And while these boys haven’t been to state before, the big stage doesn’t scare them, and they are prepared to put in the effort during this time and show their Bluegrass opponents who they are.
“ We can use this time to improve and be better as a team and just work on different things in the field and just improve,” Grady Ross said.
“We have the determination,” Ryan Roby said. “Pretty much all the teams that we’re going to play in state have played there before or at least been there before. I think we’re kind of like the new people, so we just have that determination to just go out there.”
