Georgia man leads Glasgow police on vehicle, foot pursuit

Middlebrooks

GLASGOW, Ky. – A man is facing charges after fleeing Glasgow police.

Glasgow Police Department public information officer major Terry Flatt says an officer attempted a traffic stop Monday evening.

Authorities with the Barren River Drug Task Force say the vehicle was driven by George Middlebrooks, 43, of Forsynth, Georgia, who was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant related to trafficking methamphetamine, along with a warrant out of Georgia.

Flatt says Middlebrooks disregarded the traffic stop and drove at a high rate of speed on N L Rogers Wells Boulevard before traveling down several roads and turning onto Hudson Lane.

Officers say Middlebrooks then stopped and exited the vehicle on Lexington Drive, prompting them to initiate a foot pursuit near his residence.

Middlebrooks was eventually detained in a yard nearby without further incident.

Authorities say he was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and a large amount of currency. During the execution of a search warrant at Middlebrooks’ home, authorities say they found crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, ecstasy and prescription medication, along with a large amount of currency and a firearm.

Middlebrooks is charged with fleeing or evading police 1st degree (motor vehicle), fleeing or evading police (on foot), reckless driving, disregarding a stop sign, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, and wanton endangerment.

Middlebrooks is lodged at the Barren County Detention Center.
