Nonprofits, local library work together to provide cooling centers for homeless

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As the temperatures increase this week, community partners are joining together to let those escape the heat.

Local non profits are providing cooling places to homeless.

All branches of Warren County Public Library have opened their doors to beat the heat. Each branch has access to charging stations, computers, and free shuttles.

The Salvation Army of BG is offering day time cooling with additional access to laundry rooms and showers. The organization is actively tracking temperatures, and have even allowed people to cool off in their dining hall.

Every fourth Wednesday, Hotel Inc. sets up a medicine clinic to provide professional care for homeless.

Providing these resources allows partners to stick together–no matter the weather.

Karen Foley, Executive Director of Hotel Inc., believes “together as a community” that each of us can “provide a united front for our friends and neighbors who are in need.” She expresses her gratitude for the Bowling Green area and their teamwork.

Lifeskills Wellness Connection also allows folks in their doors every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
