Cave City Police Department opens applications for Citizens Police Academy

CAVE CITY, Ky. – The Cave City Police Department has opened applications for its Citizens Police Academy.

The department says the class will be held at the Cave Area Conference Center on Tuesday nights from 6 to 8 p.m. beginning Sept. 2 through Nov. 4.

The class applications are open to any citizen above 18 years of age who works or lives in Cave City or surrounding counties and has no prior felony convictions in the last five years.

Chief Paul Reynolds stated “The purpose of the Citizens Police Academy is to educate the public about the services offered by the Cave City Police Department. The goal is to build partnerships within the community and develop community support for the department while also providing citizens with a better understanding of our officers and what they experience daily.”

The department states it strongly feels the best way to build a better relationship between officers and the community is through education.

The class will focus on use of force, crime scene processing, K-9s, mock traffic stops and a ride along with a patrol officer.

Any citizen that meets the requirements is encouraged to apply by email to cavecitycenter@gmail.com for an application.
