Hart County felon charged with gun possession, drug charges following shots-fired complaint

MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky State Police is investigating a Hart County man after a shots-fired complaint.
KSP Post says it responded to a shots fired complaint in Munfordville on McCubbins Lane on Friday evening.
When troopers arrived, the complainant said they heard several shots and the suspect was by a shed. KSP located a man walking around a parked vehicle.
KSP made contact with the suspect, James Rice, 49, of Munfordville, and searched him.
A Trooper says Rice had a baggie containing a white crystal-like substance and several baggies of suspected methamphetamine in his possession, along with a large amount of money in small bills and marijuana.
The trooper took Rice into custody and searched the shed. A firearm was located inside the shed.
The trooper says the barrel of the firearm was warm, and two shell casings were located near the entrance of the shed. Three suspected bullet holes were also located.
Rice is a convicted felon.
Rice is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance first-degree, first-offense ( < 2 grams of methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance first-degree, first-offense (cocaine), possession of marijuana, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Rice is lodged at the Hart County Jail.
