UPDATE: Man sustains life-threatening injuries in crash on Interstate Drive

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department has released further information following a serious collision on Interstate Drive.

According to Bowling Green Police Department public information officer Ronnie Ward, at 8:40 a.m., officers responded to the vehicle collision on Interstate Drive involving a pickup truck and Green River Corrections box truck.

Ward states a preliminary investigation has found that Joseph Payne, 30, of Bowling Green was traveling west on Interstate Drive when his pickup truck hit the back of the box truck.

According to Ward, Payne sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Police say five people were in the box truck during the crash. Four of the five individuals sustained minor injuries and were transported for medical treatment.

In addition, Ward states a 2-year-old child was properly secured in a car seat in the back of the pickup truck and was not injured in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
