Bowling Green to Mammoth Cave trail study underway, public feedback meeting held
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A new bike and pedestrian trail is in the works for South Central Kentucky that would connect the city of Bowling Green to Mammoth Cave National Park.
Wednesday at the Barren River Area Development District office, an open house meeting was hosted to gauge the community’s interest in this trial, allowing for feedback and help in planning the next stages.
As for when you can expect to see progress, project staff say it’s gonna take a little while to digest the data from these meetings.
“So in the early months of 2026, you should expect to see the recommendation of this process to come out,” Katie Rowe, a project manager with Gresham Smith, who is conducing the trail study, said. “Part of that will be identifying what that long term opportunity might be as far as actually getting something designed into the ground… but as of right now, there’s no funding for that.”
There will be another meeting at the Duncan Hines Days ice cream social on Thursday.
