City of Glasgow introducing new wi-fi to Glasgow Square downtown

GLASGOW, Ky. – In Glasgow, the city has partnered with the Glasgow Electric Plant Board to provide free wi-fi to visitors on the Square downtown.

Anywhere on the Square – whether it’s City Hall or on the Courthouse Lawn – will now have access to free internet, and Mayor Henry Royse says this is a huge addition to the Square as it will allow residents to stay longer at different events and happenings, and form stronger connections while also staying connected digitally.

“The world has changed to the point that we really don’t do well if we’re completely disconnected from our email or from … where we can get a text from somebody,” Royse said. “This just makes it easier for people to come and enjoy without having to totally be disconnected if they don’t want to. This is important to make people have an experience in Glasgow that is that much more enjoyable.”

City officials said the only current weak spot is at the bus stop next to the EPB’s building, but equipment is on the way to strengthen that connection.
