Inmate escapes in Seattle airport during transport to Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Multiple law enforcement agencies are searching for an inmate that escaped while in transport to Bowling Green.

According to Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, a manhunt is ongoing for an inmate who escaped custody at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport on Sunday.

Sedrick T. Stevenson, 28, was being transported to Bowling Green when he broke free from the contracted agent, according to the Port of Seattle Police.

Officials with the airport state Stevenson and agents were in the middle of the check-in process at the airport around 11 a.m. when the inmate fled the ticket counter and boarded a northbound light rail train.

Agents chased after Stevenson but were not able to capture him.

According to authorities, Stevenson is wanted on two active warrants.

Police say on the first warrant, Stevenson is wanted for failure to appear for a jury trial on charges of first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, third-degree assault on a police officer or probation officer, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana – less than 8 ounces, first offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, third-degree criminal mischief and possession of an open alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle.

On the second warrant, police say Stevenson is wanted for failure to appear for a jury trial on charges of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Authorities say the listed offenses date as far as July 2020.
