Bowling Green Parks & Rec hosts Master Plan event to help determine future of parks in BG
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As changes to Reservoir Hill Park are implemented, the City of Bowling Green’s Parks & Rec department is taking input as to what the future could look like.
BGPR is partnering with a firm called MKSK to form a master plan for what parks could look like in the future.
With citizens getting to have a say in what they want to see at the first of three meetings, it’s all about making sure the community is able to enjoy their parks, and that future generations will be able to as well.
One citizen we spoke to says her main concern involves an indoor swimming pool, something Bowling Green currently doesn’t have.
“Several cities around Warren County… Scottsville, Glasgow, Owensboro: they’re smaller than Bowling Green and they have good indoor all year round swimming… and Warren County and Bowling Green, as big as it is, doesn’t have an indoor year round pool to swim,” Julie Swack says.
She adds that Russell Sims Aquatic Center is a great option for swimmers, but it’s only open for two nights a week and during summer months.
That’s why she’d love for an indoor center to exist where the community can gather, as well as host high school swim teams in the area.
