Welcoming New Year’s babies in Bowling Green and Glasgow

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It is New Year’s Day and Bowling Green is welcoming one special, little baby into the world, the first baby born in Bowling Green in 2020.

Adilyn Kate Williamson was born at 1:04 a.m. weighing 6lbs 3.5oz and 20.5 in. long.

Adilyn’s parents, Kayla and Chase Williamson, say their daughter’s name is the only one they both agreed on.

“You really thought that maybe you knew how to love, but you really don’t really know what love is until something like this happens,” said Chase.

The Medical Center at Bowling Green surprised the parents with a $100 gift card, a pink teddy bear, and a large “It’s a girl!” balloon.

“It’s really exciting, it’s kind of nice seeing everybody come together and really share and love on her and to celebrate with us. It’s kind of great,” said Kayla.

Kayla is in school at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Bowling Green and Chase is a driver for UPS.

Kayla says she can’t even put into words how amazing it is to be a new mom.

“I definitely would like to have more, but I am not in any rush, I am going to definitely enjoy having just this one for a little while,” said Kayla.

Glasgow is also welcoming a New Year’s baby, Eira Hope Jackson, who was born at 1:40pm Wednesday afternoon at T.J. Samson Community Hospital to parents Erika Johnson and Austin Jackson.

According to UNICEF, more than 392,000 children will be born worldwide on New Year’s Day. Approximately 10,452 of them are in the united states.
