Franklin residents asked to reduce water usage after flooding effects

Michigan Reaches $600 Million Flint Water Settlement

FRANKLIN, Ky. – Flooding is still impacting local counties in multiple ways, including water clarity in Simpson County.

The City of Franklin is asking residents to reduce normal water usage for the next 24 hours due to flooding impacting the water clarity of Drakes Creek.

The city says the creek is the source water for its water treatment plant.

Official say this change in clarity is beyond normal treatment capabilities, leading the city to keep drinking water at its highest quality by not pumping water from the creek.

The city’s water treatment plant is working with Simpson County Water District to keep needed water flowing.

Officials expect continued operations at the plant to begin on Monday, Feb. 17. Additional updates by the city on this situation will be posted here.
