Weather system expected to bring heavy rain to KYTC District 3

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A weather system with moderate to heavy rain is expected to sweep through Kentucky overnight Friday through Saturday into Sunday.
Officials say the National Weather Service Louisville has put the entire Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 area under a flood watch.
This includes Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Todd, Simpson and Warren counties.
As of Friday afternoon, the district is expected to receive three to four inches of rain over the weekend.
Roads that typically do not have water on them could experience flooding.
Drivers should remain aware of water over roads and should not attempt to cross through possible high water.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says crews do their best to put up barricades as they find out about flooded roads, but responding can take time. For this reason, drivers should not assume that a road is not flooded just because a barricade is not up. In addition, drivers should not move or drive around barricades or cones.
Multiple days of rain have already passed this week. Officials say creeks, rivers and other bodies of water will have even more stress from the additional predicted rain.
Road closures due to flooding will be updated on the District 3 social media accounts, which can be found here and here.
