Fire destroys elderly woman’s home, kills dog
CANEYVILLE, Ky. – A Caneyville house fire leaves a home destroyed and dog dead.
According to report by WNKY News 40 partner K105, the Caneyville and Leitchfield Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at 7 pm on Saturday in the 2400 block of Bowling Green Road (Highway 185).
When firefighters arrived, a wood/medal siding structure of the home and a car were fully engulfed.
K105 says the homeowner, an elderly woman, was able to exit the home. She injured her head while trying to save her dog from the fire. The dog was killed as a result of the fire.
The home is a total loss.
Fire officials believe the fire was caused by a space heater set up to prevent pipes from freezing.
