Trio of Hilltoppers declare of 2025 NFL Draft

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. –Β Over the weekend, three more WKU football players declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, including LB Terreance Ellis, WR Dalvin Smith, and LB Sebastian Benjamin.

Ellis is entering the draft after two seasons at Rice, two seasons at Alcorn State, and one season at WKU.

In his lone year on the Hill, Ellis tallied 48 total tackles (24 solo) and one forced fumble in the game at New Mexico State in November.

The linebacker saw his best performance of the year in the 2024 Boca Raton Bowl, where he put up a season-high eight tackles against James Madison.

Ellis was one of just nine Hilltoppers to force a fumble through the 2024 season, and he finished the year with the 11th most tackles on the defense.

Smith is entering the draft after spending his entire college career (six seasons) at WKU.

His career saw many memorable catches on passes from talented quarterbacks, and memorable performances, with arguably the best being in the 2023 Famous Toastery Bowl against Old Dominion, where Smith and, at the time backup, quarterback Caden Veltkamp paired up for three touchdowns in the team’s comeback victory over the Monarchs.

The Glasgow, Kentucky native left his mark on the Hill, finishing his time as a Topper with 21 receiving touchdowns, tying for the fifth-most in program history.

56 games, 131 receptions, 1571 receiving yards, and four passing touchdowns later, Smith will have the opportunity to continue playing the game he loves at the next level.

Benjamin is entering the draft after four seasons at Saint Francis and two seasons at WKU.

The linebacker put up 85 total tackles (44 solo), 10 tackles for loss, six sacks, and one forced fumble in his two years on the Hill.

Benjamin’s best game of the 2024 season came at home against Louisiana Tech, where he had seven total tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble.

He joins Ellis as one of the nine Hilltoppers to force a fumble in 2024, and finishes the year tied for second in sacks and seventh in total tackles on the defense.

There are now seven Hilltoppers ready and waiting for their career to continue at the professional level, with the 2025 NFL Draft coming up in just a few months.
