Bowling Green Trolley to offer John Carpenter experience

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.  – The Bowling Green Trolley is offering a hyperlocal tour this January taking fans through the hometown of John Carpenter.

Organizers say fans will get to see Carpenter’s early life and legacy.

Carpenter is best known as a filmmaker behind a host of horror movies, including multiple “Halloween” films through the late 1970s into the 1980s.

Presented in conjunction with the inaugural John Carpenter Lives, organizers say this is tribute hosted by 7 Mountains Media and the Warren County Public Library is a celebration of “one of cinema’s most influential visionaries.”

Tour highlights will include:

  • Visit iconic locations tied to John Carpenter’s childhood, including his childhood home and high school.
  • Discover behind-the-scenes stories of the actors, collaborators, and inspirations that brought his legendary films to life.
  • Celebrate the creative genius behind horror classics like “Halloween,” “The Thing” and “Escape from New York.”

Tour dates and times are set for Jan. 2 at 10 a.m., Jan. 16 at 6:30 p.m. and Jan. 17 at 3 and 5 p.m.

The tour begins and ends in front of the historic Capitol Theater, where screenings for the John Carpenter Lives triple feature will take place on Jan. 17 at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
