Hart County school gathering donations for family after house fire

HART COUNTY, Ky. – One family in Hart County is still picking up the pieces after a fire destroyed their home earlier this month.

The children’s school is now hoping to help the family out after a fire on Dec. 16 in Canmer.

In a statement from Memorial Elementary School, they say the school is working closely with the family to provide whatever support they need, whether it’s counseling services, assistance with schoolwork or other resources.

The full statement shared by Joey Sexton, principal of Memorial Elementary School, includes the following:

“First, let me say that our hearts go out to this family during this incredibly difficult time. We are doing everything we can to support them. This is a devastating loss, and we understand that it will take time for the family to heal.”

“Memorial Elementary School is working closely with the family to provide whatever support they need, whether it’s counseling services, assistance with schoolwork, or other resources.

“We are grateful for the outpouring of support from our school community and the broader community. If anyone would like to help, please reach out to the school at 270-528-2271.

“We have more information on our Facebook page in regards to sizes and needs for the family. The school Facebook page can be found at https://www.facebook.com/polarbear2017/ . Thank you all for your help and support!”

In addition, the Dollar General located at 2907 N. Jackson Highway in Canmer is serving as another drop off point for donations as well.
