2 Bowling Green men charged in reported assault, robbery

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Two men are facing charges in relation to a reported assault in Bowling Green.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded for a delayed assault.

Police say they spoke to a male with visible injuries to his face and hands.

According to police, the victim stated that around 3:45 a.m., Zachary Kirk, 20, of Bowling Green became “angry.” The victim then stated that around 4 a.m. after he fell asleep, he woke up to being hit in the face with the bottom end of a gun, authorities say.

Police say the victim stated he believed the handgun was his and that Kirk pointed it at him. The victim stated Kirk lifted him out of bed by the neck and feet and carried him out. Authorities say another individual, Zeek Cook, 21, of Bowling Green was present during the incident.

The victim stated after the assault, Cook pointed the firearm at him and pushed it into his back, telling him to leave.

Police say the victim had obvious damage to his teeth and that he stated he had multiple jaw fractures.

The victim stated he was being transported to Skyline in Nashville for possible surgery.

Police say they located Kirk in the upstairs bedroom, where the altercation occurred. Authorities say there was blood on the pillow and sheets of the bed.

Kirk had an apparent cut on his neck from the altercation and injuries under his eyes from a prior altercation, according to police. While speaking to Cook, they say he stated he “did not see anything but heard” the altercation and that Kirk “made” the victim leave.

Cook and Kirk were taken into custody and lodged at the Warren County Detention Center. Cook is charged with first-degree robbery (complicity) and first-degree wanton endangerment. Kirk is charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree assault.
