BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing charges after police say footage shows him stealing a pickup truck.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded on Wednesday shortly after 4 p.m. to 512 U.S. 31-W Bypass at Stripes and More.

Police say at the scene, they recovered a 2008 black GMC Sierra that had been entered as stolen on Nov. 30.

The citation states an officer then made contact at a residence across the road with Daniel Cherry, 43, of Bowling Green, who police say matched the description of the suspect who stole the truck.

Police say they were able to review RING doorbell camera footage from Cherry’s residence, which showed him wearing the same clothing seen on the suspect on Nov. 30.

Police say the suspect had been recorded getting inside the driver’s seat and driving away in the stolen vehicle.

Police say Cherry stated the male in the security footage “looks like him” but that he did not remember stealing the vehicle.

Cherry was placed into custody and transported to the Warren County Detention Center. He is charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition auto between $10,000 and $1,000,000.
