1 dead after vehicle overturns in Letcher County

LINEFORK, Ky. – One person is dead following a crash in Letcher County on Tuesday.

The Kentucky State Police says Post 13 troopers received a call in reference to a single vehicle accident on Defeated Creek Road in the Linefork community of Letcher County.

Troopers say they responded, along with medical personnel, to the scene and located a vehicle overturned.

Following a preliminary investigation, troopers say they learned Terry C. Combs, 58, of Linefork was driving a red 2008 Chevrolet pickup northbound on Defeated Creek Road. During this time, authorities say the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and overturned over an embankment, partially ejecting the driver.

Combs was pronounced dead on scene by the Letcher County Coroner’s Office.

Troopers say no seat belts were being used during the collision, and alcohol is a suspected factor. Toxicology results are pending. The investigation is ongoing.
