Franklin police warning about scam calls

FRANKLIN, Ky. – Franklin residents should be aware of a scam call going around.
The Franklin Police Department says a phone scam circulating involves a caller claiming to be officer Hansen from their department.
Police say the caller then claims you have a legal issue, unpaid fines or a warrant for your arrest. They then demand gift cards prepaid cards or wire transfers for you to avoid consequences.
Police say to keep in mind the caller can even spoof the caller ID for the Franklin Police Department.
The department reminds citizens that it does not call to demand money or payment and that law enforcement does not accept payment in this way.
If you get this call, hang up immediately and do not give them personal information.
