Battle over abortion bans continues in Kentucky

(WSPD) – The battle over abortion continues in Kentucky.

Just this week, two statewide groups took strong stances. Both sides of the issue are seeking changes to the current state laws centered around it.

The pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Paducah led the KBC’s resolution seeking to completely abolish abortion in the state, specifically chemical abortions.

Meanwhile, this week, the American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky filed another lawsuit seeking to strike down those bans.

Here’s what one ACLU official had to say about KBC’s recent resolution:

“At the end of the day, it really is about bodily autonomy,” said Amber Duke with ACLU Kentucky. “If someone would not choose this care in their particular situation, we support that as a part of our belief in reproductive freedom. But if someone does want to make this choice or have this option available, it should be available.”

Pastor Hall was asked if he was concerned about unsafe or dangerous outcomes for women if chemical abortion treatment was abolished.

However, he gave no comment to the question.
