Mother, 20-month-old daughter flown after crash in McCreary County

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — A woman and her 20-month-old daughter were flown for treatment following a crash in McCreary County on Wednesday.

According to Kentucky State Police Public Affairs Officer Trooper Corey Jones, troopers responded Aug. 5 to a two-vehicle injury collision in Williamsburg shortly after 5:45 p.m.

Authorities say they received a call that 30-year-old Jennifer Dotson of Williamsburg, along with her 20-month-old daughter, arrived at Baptist Health in Corbin with serious injuries from a collision.

Troopers say the Corbin Police Department initially responded to the hospital and learned the collision took place in McCreary County, which caused them to contact KSP.

According to authorities, a preliminary investigation found Dotson was driving east on New Liberty Road in Williamsburg when she crossed into the path of a pickup truck driven by 30-year-old Eddie Davis of Whitley City.

Authorities say it was determined the crash occurred around 3 p.m. that day.

The collision was not reported at the time it occurred, authorities say. Dotson did not have her daughter in a child safety seat the time of the collision, according to troopers.

Upon arrival at Baptist Health in Corbin, authorities say Dotson and her daughter were flown to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital for serious injuries. Both are listed in stable condition as of Friday.

The investigation remains ongoing. Toxicology results are currently pending as well, authorities say.
