KSP says man dies from suspected drug overdose while in custody

ONEIDA, Ky. – Kentucky State Police London post is investigating an overdose death in Clay County.
KSP says a man, while in custody, is dead after suffering a drug overdose.
A preliminary investigation shows Shawn. D. Gibson, 49 of Oneida, was arrested in connection to an active warrant. This arrest occurred following a traffic stop.
KSP says Gibson allegedly was under the influence of illicit drugs which caused him to overdose.
Attempts to revive Gibson were made and he was transported to AdventHealth in Manchester. Gibson was pronounced deceased by the Clay County Coroner’s Office. An autopsy was performed on Thursday morning. The toxicology report is pending.
The investigation is ongoing.
