1 dead following Sunday crash involving deer in Warren County
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One person is dead following a crash on Interstate 65 early Sunday in Warren County.
According to a release by the Kentucky State Police Post 3, troopers were notified Sunday around 1:57 a.m. about a two-vehicle injury collision on I-65 northbound near the 25 mile marker in Warren county.
Troopers say a preliminary investigation found that a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Alex Bailey, 26, of Jeffersonville, Indiana was traveling north on I-65 near the 25 mile marker when a deer entered his path, causing him to hit his breaks and collide with the deer.
Authorities say a 1999 Ford motorhome, operated by Bruce Hutchins, 54, of Radcliff, crashed into the back of Bailey’s vehicle during this time.
The Chevrolet then left the right side of the road before stopping at an embankment, troopers say, while the motorhome stopped against the inside barrier wall in the left emergency lane.
Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County Coroner’s Office.
Hutchins was transported by MED-COM EMS to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for unknown injuries.
The Kentucky State Police was also assisted at the scene by the Bowling Green Fire Department. This investigation is ongoing.
