UPDATE: Further details released in crash involving parachute plane
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WLEX) – The investigation continues regarding a Lexington couple that was killed in a single-powered parachute aircraft crash Sunday evening.
Officials say the crash happened in a field off Ashgrove Road in Nicholasville just before 6 p.m. Sunday, killing the two people on board, Michael and Connie Murphy, both 72 years old and from Lexington.
The National Transportation Safety Board’s preliminary findings show the pair were in a Buckeye Dream Machine when they flipped while landing.
One man says he’s been a friend of Michael Murphy’s for nearly three decades and tells officials that Murphy became interested in flying small aircrafts after retiring as a police officer.
The NTSB and the Federal Aviation Administration are handling the investigation. News 40 will update you once we learn more about the developing case.
