Police say an Indiana woman attempted to smuggle drugs into Todd County Detention Center

ELKTON, Ky. – A Greenville, Indiana woman was arrested on drug charges after attempting to introduce a controlled substance to the Todd County Detention Center.

The Elkton Police Department says it observed a white SUV pulling into the parking lot of Todd County Dispatch and pulling into a garage used for inmate work details for the Todd County Detention Center on Sunday afternoon.

The operator of the vehicle, Amber Smith, 39 of Greenville, Indiana, allegedly placed a large amount of Suboxone pills behind a trash can.

Police say the pills were dropped at the location to be introduced into the Todd County Detention Center.

Smith was taken into custody and is charged with trafficking in controlled substance 2nd degree >or= 20 d.u. drug unspecified, trafficking controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school, and promoting contraband 1st degree.

Smith is lodged at the Todd County Detention Center.

According to Elkton Police, the investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
