South Warren Middle, High schools no longer under lockdown

South Warren

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – South Warren High School and South Warren Middle School have been released from a lockdown Monday morning.

The following letter by superintendent Rob Clayton is the latest message released by the district:

“Dear Spartan Families,”

“As a follow-up to the letter we just distributed to our families earlier today, we have now received notification from local law enforcement that the lockdown can be lifted. At this time, there is no evidence to suggest intent to harm any students, staff or faculty at South Warren High School or any other WCPS school. Indeed, the threat was determined to be a rumor. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

“If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our Central Office at (270) 781-5150.

“Dear Spartan Families,”

“The Warren County Public Schools (WCPS) district strives to be a community that is safe and nurturing for all of our students, faculty and staff. We also want to openly communicate with our families about safety issues when they arise.

“Due to a rumor of a student with a potential weapon at South Warren High School, this morning, both South Warren Middle and High Schools are on temporary lockdown. Law enforcement was notified immediately and responded to the school. The incident is under investigation. At this time, there is no evidence to suggest intent to harm any students, staff or faculty at either school. We will notify you as soon as the lockdown is lifted.

“With recent national school safety incidents and out of an abundance of caution, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office sent multiple units to investigate. As always, we are grateful for the collaborative work between local law enforcement agencies and our district leadership as we work each and every day to provide a safe environment for our students to learn and staff to work. Whether verbal, nonverbal, a text, or on social media, we take every report or potential threat seriously. As always, if you see or hear anything concerning, please report it by either contacting an adult at your child’s school or by using the Kentucky Safe School Tipline: Call (866) 393-6659 or the online form at https://safeschools.ky.gov/.

“Should you have any questions or concerns, you may contact your school principal or contact Warren County Public Schools at 270-781-5150.

“Respectfully,

Rob Clayton

Superintendent”
