Wanted man taken into custody on R.E. Stevenson Elementary School campus

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – A wanted man is in custody after a report of a suspicious subject on campus property at R.E. Stevenson Elementary in Russellville.

The Russellville Police Department says officers responded Friday to to the scene.

The subject, identified as Tyrone Taylor, was taken into custody on an active warrant.

Police say Taylor was cited on several other charges.

Russellville Independent Schools has released the following statement to Facebook:

“At approximately 1:20 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, an individual entered the RE Stevenson Preschool playground. The Russellville Police quickly responded, addressed the situation and took the individual into custody. The school was briefly placed on lockdown as a precaution. We want to assure everyone that students and staff were never in danger. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We appreciate your understanding and support, and are appreciative of the Russellville Police Department for their quick response and assistance.”

The Russellville Police Department was assisted by the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
