1 dead, several injured after overnight shooting in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. – One person is dead and five other victims are recovering from non-life threatening injuries after an overnight shooting in Lexington.

On Aug. 9 around 12:19 a.m., the Lexington Police Department says officers were dispatched to the 700 block of National Avenue for a shooting involving victims.

Police say at the scene, they located six victims with gunshot wounds.

The victims were transported to a local hospital.

A male victim was pronounced dead at the hospital, police say. His identity has not been released at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
