Pandemic Funds Run Dry in Butler County Schools

BUTLER COUNTY, Ky. – Pandemic relief funds were an essential boost that public schools across the county needed desperately during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Butler County school system is no different, but now those pandemic funds have officially run dry, which means the school district is having to go back to some pre-pandemic practices.

One director from the Butler County Schools tells News 40 that they were in a good position when COVID struck, and the funding allowed them to purchase items for schools and students that they otherwise would not have been able to afford.

With the funding, Butler County Schools were able to purchase new technology for students, grow and expand their Summer Lunchbox Express Program for kids and update the high school’s cafeteria.

However, while the pandemic has ended, new challenges have reared their heads. Grocery prices have reached levels never seen before, and Butler County Schools is feeling the pinch. They are continuing to prepare for increases in food prices.

Any Butler County family that feels like they need extra help can go to the Butler County Family Resource and Youth Services Center.
