Sunrise Spotlight: Arts in the Alley
For your Thursday edition of Sunrise Spotlight, we sat down with Jennifer Sims from the Kentucky Art Education Association. She told us all about how your child can break out their inner artist with some upcoming Arts in the Alley events.
Class times vary for different age groups. For ages 5-9, classes will be held from 9:00-10:30 A.M. For ages 10-14, classes will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.
These times are applicable for all event dates unless otherwise announced beforehand.
Here’s a list of all upcoming events associated with Arts in the Alley:
June 15th: Watercolor Techniques
- Participants will learn to use watercolor in a number of different ways. There will be options to create a mixed media project that incorporates learned techniques from the session.
June 29th: Acrylic Projects
- In this class, kids will be able to create two projects! In one project, you’ll be making a mini-masterpiece on a canvas with an easel for display. Then, they can make rock art for your garden at home!
July 13th: Printmaking Techniques
- For this class, your kiddo will learn how to make a stamp! But that’s not all, anyone attending can also learn how to make a relief print and the basics of printmaking.
July 27th: Weaving Projects
- Here, your child will learn about weaving terminology and techniques. They’ll learn how to create a bookmark with these techniques and create their own design.
August 3rd: Scultpture Techniques
- In this session, kids will be able to learn about the art of Dale Chihuly, a well-known American glass artist. From there, they’ll be able to create their own works of art inspired by Chihuly’s work!
