First Friday in Scottsville, partnered with Smuckers

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – They run from April to December, but this one is a little different.

Nonprofit organization Heart of Scottsville has held a small celebration for three years now on the town square called “First Fridays,” which happen at the first Friday of every month and boast a selection of music, games and family fun.

Ada Oliver and Hannah Brooks, who serve and vice president and executive director of the organization, said that since the beginning, the idea has grown through community involvement and this month represents that.

The nonprofit has partnered with popular brand Smuckers to help put on this month’s Jam Festival. The organization has implored the community to enter into their homemade jam contest, asking people to submit jars of their making to be judged by local first responders. In addition, local breakfast restaurant Griddles has agreed to donate biscuits for the event.

News 40 also picked up a fun fact while hanging out in Scottsville today – Oliver mentioned in her interview that Allen County is the biggest supplier of produce for Kentucky.
