DALLAS – WKU Track and Field Senior Katie Isenbarger has been named Conference USA Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

On the accomplishment, head coach Brent Chumbley said “I cannot imagine a more deserving athlete. 6 ‘2 ” was a goal for us this season so now we can focus on our next number.”

Isenbarger was chosen following her outstanding showing at the Music City Challenge over the weekend. There, she set the new school record in the high jump, clearing 1.88 meters, breaking her own previous record of 1.86. Her jump ranks first in CUSA, second in the NCAA DI East Region, and fifth in all of NCAA DI.

The occasion marks the sixth time Isenbarger has been named Field Athlete of the Week, the second this season for the native of Zionsville, Ind. Isenbarger has competed in all five outdoor meets for the Hilltoppers, claiming first place in each one. Three of Isenbarger’s jumps rank inside the top-10 in NCAA DI with four inside the top-15.

Isenbarger and the Hilltoppers are set to compete next at the CUSA Championships May 10-12, hosted by UTEP.
