City officials celebrate $20M for substance use disorder pilot program
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A plan to tackle mental health and substance abuse in our local area is being celebrated.
The Anchor Project earned approval last month for $20 million in state funding to benefit the Barren River Area Development District. This will help build a facility that will encourage treatment over arrest.
Local officials gathered Monday to celebrate the project, one that may provide a future example for the Commonwealth.
“There was no question,” Sen. Mike Wilson says. “We needed to try to get on board and help out and get this funded, because we needed to help take care of the problem in the fastest growing area in the state of Kentucky that could be a model for the rest of the state.”
