Western Kentucky Heart and Lung Symposium at Med Center Health

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – At the Med Center Health campus, dozens of healthcare providers flocked to the Western Kentucky Heart and Lung Symposium to hear research presentations and network with fellow medical professionals.

News 40 spoke to Melinda Joyce, executive director of the Western Kentucky Heart and Lung Foundation, who said that it’s exciting to be able to host these kinds of events in Bowling Green.

Joyce said the research coming out of Southcentral Kentucky is impressive, and it’s important to be able to facilitate events that allow the exchange of ideas.

News 40 also spoke to a Med Center Health resident, who said he has been in awe all day.

Fawaz Mohammed told us in his interview that he began to work toward cardiology because “the field is so dynamic.” Fawaz admitted it can be taxing to keep up with every evolving research, but “that’s what modern medicine is and it’s about getting what’s best for the patient.”
