New Norton Children’s Center for Safe and Healthy Kids to serve children statewide

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Children across Kentucky will now have a new option for care.
Wednesday, Norton Children’s and state officials opened the new Norton Children’s Center for Safe and Healthy Kids, which will serve thousands of patients from across the state.
Located on the Home of the Innocents campus in Louisville, the center will be staffed with doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, a social worker and other clinicians specifically trained in identifying, treating and preventing abuse and neglect.
Dr. Melissa Currie, a child abuse pediatrician with Norton Children’s, says, “I’m looking forward to continuing to grow our team so we can serve more and more children. I’m especially looking forward to us having the bandwidth to focus more on prevention efforts and educational efforts in the community, so we can ultimately reduce the number or eliminate the number of children who need our services to begin with. So, my ultimate goal throughout my career is to put myself out of a job.
