Lady Tops finish third in CUSA Championship

MAGNOLIA, Tx. – The WKU Women’s Golf Team wrapped up the CUSA Tournament in Magnolia, Texas Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Tops finished third in the field after scoring 297, 298, and 288 in their respective rounds.  

Junior Catie Craig turned in her ninth top-five finish of the season after tying for fourth in the tourney. Craig put in three birdies on her way to a 1-under 71 final round to lead the way for the Red and White. She was third in the field in birdies with 11, third in the field in Par 4s (4.03), and third in Par 5s (4.50).

Lady Toppers Averi Cline and Addie Westbrook tied for 13th in the tourney. Westbrook had a strong final round for WKU, shaving four strokes off of her second-round score to turn in a 1-under 71 final round. The WKU senior had an impressive back nine for the Lady Tops, putting in three of her four birdies in her back nine holes. Averi Cline turned in another even-par 72 final round to climb up the leaderboard two spots.

Sarah Arnold ended her final CUSA Tournament tied for 17th. This was Arnold’s ninth top-20 finish of the season. The Illinois native had a quick start for WKU, putting in two birdies on her first four holes and scoring under par until her eighth and ninth holes. She remained consistent throughout the rest of the round and finished with a 2-over 74 final round.

Just outside of the top-25 for WKU was sophomore Sydney Hackett. Hackett turned in a 7-over 79 final round for the Lady Tops and was tied for third in the field in par 3s. The sophomore met par 33 times throughout the tournament and put in six total birdies.

This marks the ninth top-finish of the season for the Red and White. That is the first time in program history that mark has been reached.

Although there will not be any team action for the Lady Tops, several players will still be competing around the nation throughout the spring and summer.
