Woman arrested after 8-year-old Kentucky boy died from fentanyl, police say

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. – A second arrest has been made after police say fentanyl caused the death of an 8-year-old boy in Madisonville, Kentucky.

According to a uniform citation, Madisonville police confirmed the cause of the child’s death was “fentanyl intoxication” after an investigation began on March 15.

Police stated on social media that Whitney Person, 35, was arrested on Friday.

She faces charges of second-degree manslaughter (conspiracy) and aggravated trafficking in a controlled substance (greater than or equal to 28 grams of fentanyl (conspiracy).

Antonio Person, 33, of Madisonville was arrested in the investigation previously on charges of trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (fentanyl) (firearm enhancement), possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia – buy/posses and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Police say these charges relate to a search at a Madisonville residence last month that located drugs, drug paraphernalia and a firearm.

Police announced Friday that Antonio Person now faces an added charge of second-degree manslaughter.
