Craig earns CUSA Golfer of the Week following record-breaking tournament win

DALLAS, Tx. (WKU SPORTS) – Lady Topper Golf junior Catie Craig was named Conference USA Golfer of the Week for the first time this spring. The Lady Topper junior netted her fifth CUSA Golfer of the Week award following a record-breaking performance at the Spring Break Shootout. The weekly honor is presented by Blenders Eyewear.

The now five-time CUSA Golfer of the Week winner led the Lady Tops to a victory at the Spring Break Shootout in Dade City, Florida. Craig dominated during the entire duration of the tournament, spending all three rounds in first place. With the win, this gave Craig her fourth victory putting her second in WKU history behind Mary Joiner who has six.

Craig broke two individual records during the tourney. She turned in an 8-under 63 first round, which shattered the WKU all-time record for the lowest round in school history. Craig’s hot streak continued throughout the entirety of the tournament as she also broke the individual 36-hole and 54-hole record as she earned a 130 and 201, respectively.

The Georgia native was vital to the Lady Toppers breaking three team-records as well. The squad broke the record for the lowest team round score with a 271, the lowest 36-hole score with 552 and the lowest 54-hole score with 835.
