EDMONTON, Ky. – Metcalfe County Schools announced Friday fourth grade student Tymber Garrett is the new vice president of the Kentucky State Elementary Beta Club.

Tymber’s campaign, “Shiver Me Tymbers,” was based on this year’s Beta theme, “Beta: A Voyage of Adventure.”

Her peers elected her during a statewide vote, the district says.

“This is a tremendous achievement for Tymber,” MCES Beta sponsor Lindsey Thomas said.“We are extremely proud of her and her classmates who worked side by side to create the slogan and campaign skit. Tymber’s hard work, dedic ation, integrity, goodwill, and creativity are qualities that will make her a great leader, not just in Beta but in life.”

Tymber was sworn in during a virtual ceremony on Thursday, March 14. She will represent Metcalfe County and Kentucky when she travels to Savannah for the National Beta Convention in June.

While in Georgia, she will campaign for national vice president.

Beta is a national organization devoted to honoring and recognizing students for their achievement, character, and leadership qualities, as well as encouraging growth through service and comradery.

There are three National Beta Conventions: Elementary Beta for grades 4-5, Junior Beta for grades 6-8, and Senior Beta for grades 9-12.
