WKU clinch another top five finish in the Sunshine State

Multiple Wku Golfers Qualify For U.s. Amateurs

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – WKU Women’s Golf wrapped up the Momentum Transportation UNF Collegiate tournament Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Tops finished fifth on the leaderboard after being in eighth heading into the final round. This breaks their streak of five straight tournaments of finishing within the top-three.

Finishing in the top three is Catie Craig who finished third overall. Craig spent both days of the tournament in the top three, even tying for first after the end of round two. Craig’s impressive run was capped off with a 5-under 67 final round. That mark ties her for fourth in WKU history for the lowest round. Her final round also included five straight birdies on holes one through five. She ended the tournament with 12 total, which pur her fifth in the field.

Right outside of the top-10 for the Lady Tops is Averi Cline who finished her tournament tied for 12th overall. Cline was very efficient in her final round, never scoring over par on any of her final 18 holes. She wrapped up her tournament with a 1-under 71 final round.

Addie Westbrook has continued to shine for the red and white as well, as she finished in the top-30, tying for 29th.Westbrook put together a great stretch for WKU, putting in three birdies out of five holes before going even at hole nine. Wesbtrook scored an impressive 3-under 69 in her final round, which is the second lowest mark in her career.

Graduate student Sarah Arnold contributed to the Lady Tops’ top-five finish as well. Tying for 45th on the leaderboard, Arnold turned in a 2-over 74 final round to solidify herself at the top half of the board. The Illinois native was very efficient for WKU, scoring par 33 times throughout the tournament.

Savnnah Howell tied for 88th on the board competing as an individual for the Lady Tops. Howell put in two birdies on her way to a 4-over 76 final round. Howell was followed by fellow Lady Topper Sydney Hackett, as she tied for 92nd after turning in a 17-over 233 total tournament score.

Although the Lady Tops streak of top-three finishes was broken, their streak of finishing in the top-five is still alive and well. This tournament brings their streak up to six.

WKU ended the tournament with 43 birdies, one eagle, and meeting par 177 times.

The women’s golf team will return to action back in Florida as they host their annual spring break shootout tournament in Dade City, Florida. The two-day tournament will take place from March 18-19.
