Sanders tabbed CUSA Player of the Week

DALLAS, Texas (WKU Sports) – WKU Softball now owns a 4-1 home record, in part to CUSA Player of the Week, Taylor Sanders, the league announced Monday. It is Sanders’ first weekly award of the season and the sixth of her career.

Hitting in the Tops’ three-spot all weekend, Sanders led WKU with four home runs in five games over the weekend, totaling 19 bases and a 1.462 slugging rate. The third baseman averaged .538 at the plate, picking up seven hits and 11 RBIs for four WKU wins at home. Sanders is second in the league with an overall .911 slugging percentage, and first in CUSA with six home runs on the season.

The Hilltoppers play their first midweek game on the road at Louisville tomorrow, at 4 p.m. CT. The Tops will then host their second non-conference tournament of the season, the Hilltopper Spring Fling, with Dayton, Northern Illinois, and Southern Illinois in attendance. The tournament at the WKU Softball Complex runs March 1-3.
