(AP) – Gabby Douglas will return to competition for the first time in nearly eight years at the Winter Cup in Louisville, Kentucky, on Feb. 24. Douglas won the Olympic all-around gymnastics title at the London Olympics in 2012. She was the first Black woman to win the Olympic title. The 28-year-old Douglas hasn’t competed since helping the U.S. team win gold at the 2016 Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro. Douglas returned to training in 2022 and announced last summer she was going to try to make the 2024 Olympic team.
