You can buy a Trooper Teddy for your Valentine
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – You can buy them all year round, but from Feb. 1 to Feb. 14, they’re a little cheaper.
The Kentucky State Police for many years has been giving out teddy bears to children on scene whenever a trooper has to respond to an incident. Whether it be a collision or something else, typically when law enforcement shows up, it can be tough day, so giving out these bears can mean a lot to the children in these situations.
News 40 spoke to KSP Post 3 trooper Katan Parker, who said he remembers a Bowling Green police officer giving him a bear back when he was 6 years old, and that has stuck with him for 30 years now.
Parker said the money from the bears just goes into buying more bears for patrol officers to be ready at a moment’s notice.
Parker encouraged that this month, you buy a bear for your child or a loved one for Valentine’s Day.
