Police respond to ‘suspicious package’ near Capitol building, say package is safe

WASHINGTON – Police say they investigated Wednesday morning after a suspicious package showed up near the United States Capitol building.

Police say they responded to the scene on the west side of the building.

Capitol police shared the information on X shortly after 10 a.m. this morning.

The package has since been cleared and the area is now considered safe.
